The Neverending Story

Okay, who remembers this movie? It came out in the 1980s and I personally thought it was better than Michael Ende's book of the same name from which it was based on (the second part of the book just goes on and on for me, ugh). The scene where Atreyu's horse slowly drowned in the Swamps of Sadness is particularly heartbreaking even for me. I kept waiting for some kind of "Surprise! Artax's not dead, you know!" twist to pop up after that scene because this is supposed to be a kiddie movie and all, but ugh, the horse actually died! I don't think I've been this traumatized since Bambi's mother croaked. Wait, there was also that scene in The Land Before Time... anyway, here's Limahl's surprisingly not-that-cheesy and fabulous theme song to that movie.

Holy mullet batman!

Lord it's been years - I need to find a copy of that and sit down with kiddo and watch it. You get so caught up in CGI these days you sometimes forget about how damn good these movies, with the huge sets and animatronics, really are. I'd love to see some of these re released on the big screen , so I could take my kid to them

Although, I have to say, while the songs not cheesy, does he remind anyone else of Jack McFarland and his Jazz hands? hehe

Please don't laugh, but from some angles usually from the side in this video, Limahl actually looks quite good in that "scruffy cute guy" manner.

Oh, those were the days when you can actually listen to Gorgio Moroder without being laughed out of town!

Oh, he's not bad looking at all - take me back 20 odd years and I would have been all over having me some of that :) - I had a crush all through high school on a guy that looked a lot like him, but with shorter spiky hair . My dirty little secret that would probably get me arrested in half a dozen states? Shia Lebouf (how ever you spell it) I could so be the cougar to his toyboy. And the kid out of Arrested Development/ Juno... I so would have gone out with him at that age - who needed a rugby jock!

I wonder what the kid/hero of the story looks like now?
