Laurell's Delusions of Grandeur

People ask me why I link to Laurell K Hamilton's blog when I'm obviously allergic to her current incarnation as a "See me pretend to be AnitaMerry GentryBlake as I have non-stop sex with my imaginary boyfriends" alien from a distant planet. When we have blog entries like this one (bolding mine):

I seem to have started a sub-genre. Is it paranormal romance, gumshoe fantasy, urban fantasy romance? No one's really come up with that perfect phrase. If we could just come up with something as cool sounding as cyberpunk, but alas, I don't know what to call it either. My books read more like hard-boiled mysteries, or horror novels in tone of writing, but the romance and the magic is most definitely there, too. What do I write? What I want to read. Isn't that what all writers write?

How can I stop reading that blog, people? How can I? Heh.

I also call BS on her "starting a subgenre". Kooky girlfriend here started the bandwagon rolling, not started a revolution, sheesh.

My god. Oh*My*God. Realy. Just. Wow. But you know - as the shock wears off ... what DO you call it when you are no longer writing fiction? How do you clasify the Walter Mitty goes horribly wrong writing when quasi-fantasy-diary-meets-designer-drugs.

Break away from the L.Blog Mrs. Giggles. That way there be dragons.

LKH has reminded me of a car crash that happen on the way home from work. Everyone has to just take a peek at the wreck before moving on.

Last weeks crash was the rat-nuts. This week it is "Mistral's Kiss" and the new title to her next Merry book --- "Lick of Frost". The new title sounds like a porn movie.

Jerry Springer needs to move over ... LKH is going to take over soon.
