Spanking romances

I'm feeling quite fatigued with the usual romance subgenres. I suppose I can try reading inspirational romances, but of those few that I've read, about half makes me want to hang myself due to the whole issue of "submission" to the husband that I find a little too much for my liking.

Still, hoping to find something within the genre that is new and hopefully interesting, I come across something that currently proliferates in the self-publishing circuit: spanking romances. My blog linking function is not working (I don't know what Bravenet is doing nowadays), so I will just paste a few product URLs here as examples:

I even found a few inspirational spanking romances, which I dared not buy, about wives discovering the new meaning behind God's decree to good pious Christian women to "submit to God by submitting to your husband". Are those books aimed at some kind of niche audience with a kink for spanking and Bibles or are they really serious about the whole spanking of wives being part of virtuous Christian living? I will let some other people find out.

I'm going to read now. Wish me luck!

It is a subculture that is really serious about spanking wives as part of the whole submission thing.

Of course, the rest of us kinksters just smile and say "If you've found a way to play that doesn't conflict with your beliefs, how nice for you." Then we go back to our own kinks.

Interesting. And I don't think I want to say anything more, or I'd get in trouble with some people out there! :P

Have fun :) I like readign the occassional selection of work from a niche. I read a fascinating collection by Donna Barr focussed on the whole men-turning-to-horses thing. Spanking stuff ranges a lot in type of content and quality. i oprefer the more mixed genres (men and women, serious lifestyle and just fun). There are some pretty good spanking anthologies out there.

Angelia, I remember hearing about that movement and visiting that site a while back. Hideous, hypocritical BS. The practice is a sick means for publicly pious bungholes to get their jollies while reminding their wives of a woman's second-class-citizen status.

Not, do you want to know what I really think?

The "romantic spanking" phenom is the "acceptable kink" for people who can't admit they like kink. It's like those people who say smoking marijuana isn't the same as taking drugs. Kinky people call it what it is: a kink.
